Hemp_FIBER_1000™ — Natural Hemp Seed Hulls

The outer shell of the hemp seed — a lightweight, fibre-rich material with applications across food, animal feed, and biomaterials. Hemp_FIBER_1000 is a natural byproduct of our dehulling process, collected and processed in the same FSSC 22000 certified facility that produces our protein, oil, and seed products.

Where most hemp processors treat hulls as waste, we see a high-value raw material. Hemp_FIBER_1000 is clean, consistent, and traceable — produced under the same quality standards as our premium food-grade ingredients.

Why Hemp_FIBER_1000 Has Value

Hemp hulls are one of the most fibre-dense materials in the plant kingdom. With over 50% total dietary fibre and meaningful residual protein content, they represent a functional ingredient — not a waste stream.

The food industry is actively searching for clean-label fibre sources to meet consumer demand for gut health, satiety, and digestive wellness. Hemp hulls deliver on all three without the allergen concerns, bloating, or flavour challenges associated with common fibre ingredients like psyllium, inulin, or wheat bran.

For animal feed and pet food formulators, hemp hulls provide a natural fibre source with a favourable nutritional profile. For biomaterial developers, the mechanical properties of hemp hull are increasingly recognised for composite applications.

Typical Nutritional Profile

Energy: approximately 1100 kJ / 260 kcal per 100 g
Protein: 13 g
Fat: 9 g
Carbohydrate: 13 g (of which sugars: < 2 g)
Dietary fibre: 55 g
Salt: < 0.1 g

Fibre Composition

Hemp hulls contain a mix of insoluble and soluble dietary fibre, predominantly:

Cellulose: structural fibre providing bulk and water-holding capacity
Hemicellulose: fermentable fibre supporting gut microbiome diversity
Lignin: insoluble fibre contributing to mechanical strength and slow fermentation

This fibre profile makes hemp hulls particularly suitable for applications requiring high water absorption, texture modification, or slow-release energy.

Applications

Food & Beverage:
High-fibre ingredient for bread, crackers, and baked goods. Fibre enrichment of cereal bars and snack products. Functional fibre additive for meal replacements and weight management products. Texture and bulk ingredient in plant-based meat alternatives. Gluten-free fibre source for speciality baking.

Sustainability

Hemp_FIBER_1000 represents a zero-waste approach to hemp seed processing. By valorising every fraction of the seed — protein, oil, hearts, and hulls — Hemisphere ensures that nothing is discarded. This aligns with circular economy principles and supports customers' sustainability commitments.

Hemp cultivation itself requires no pesticides, enriches soil structure, and absorbs significant CO₂ during growth. Every kilogram of Hemp_FIBER_1000 carries this environmental advantage.
